Welcome to the Karatu Internet Caf Project (KIC), an education project of Godparents for Tanzania benefiting the youth of Karatu Vocational Training Centre and the wider community of Karatu, Tanzania, East Africa.
Tanzania is a country of contrasts. It is home to some of the greatest and most diverse concentrations of wildlife in the world and spectacular natural wonders including Mt. Kilimanjaro, the "roof of Africa," and Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. At the same time, Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world with an average family income of less than $400 per year.
For the vast majority of young people in Tanzania, there is little opportunity for education beyond the primary level. The Karatu Internet Cafe Project seeks to address this concern.
